DETAILS

Black polyimide film exhibits an excellent balance of physical, chemical, and electrical properties over a wide temperature range, with superior dimensional stability at elevated temperatures. These characteristics make it ideal for use in many industrial applications where opacity, low reflectivity, or aesthetics are required. Black polyimide film can also be loaded with conductive carbons to produce films with surface resistivity, making it electrically conductive or static dissipative. Great for ESD or anti-static applications. The resistive property is throughout the bulk of the film, so it cannot be cracked, rubbed off or otherwise easily damaged, as is often the case with surface coatings or metallizations. Also available with adhesive, Black Polyimide Tape.

APPLICATIONS

Satellite & Space

Black polyimide film provides both thermal and anti-static control for numerous satellite applications. It retains all the outstanding inertness, radiation and temperature resistance of other polyimide films, which make them ideal for use in space or other extreme environments. Ideal as a radiant heat absorber or in satellite blankets.

Black Coverlay

The black polyimide film can also be coated with adhesive on one or both side. Black polyimide coverlay can be used to encapsulate etched details in flexible and rigid-flex multilayer constructions for environmental protection and electrical insulation. Black coverlay is also commonly used to enhance circuit aesthetics and improve LED lighting controls in specialty applications.
